Ready for something more immersive and adventurous? Civic Aid offers volunteering opportunities abroad through a life-transforming partnership with Anane Institute in Ghana. This program is more than just service—it’s a cultural exchange, a challenge, and a journey of the heart.
What Can You Do in Ghana?
From urban neighborhoods to rural villages, volunteers in Ghana engage in hands-on projects that address real community needs:

Comfortable, Safe, and Supported
Worried about logistics? We’ve got you covered. Volunteers stay at the Anane Institute Guesthouse in Techiman or nearby towns in the Bono East Region. You’ll enjoy daily breakfast and dinner, bottled water, clean accommodations, and friendly support from the moment you land in Accra.
Our team provides:
- Airport pick-up and drop-off
- Orientation to Civic Aid and your host community
- 24/7 in-country support
- Transport to/from worksites
- A Civic Aid t-shirt (yes, we love our volunteers!)
Need internet? We’ve got options. Volunteers can use mobile data or tap into the office’s internet for a small fee.
Flexible Dates and Transparent Pricing
We know everyone’s schedule is different. That’s why we offer flexible start dates—you can begin your volunteer journey any time of year. Stay for a week or up to six months. The longer you stay, the lower your daily cost.

Travel on Your Days Off
Explore Ghana’s natural beauty, vibrant culture, and historic landmarks during your free time. Need help getting around? You can rent a vehicle with a driver through the Anane Institute:
- Vehicle Rental: $30/day
- Driver Allowance: $15/day
- Fuel: Pay as you go
Overnight travel is welcome—just remember to cover your driver’s lodging and meals.
